Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled at the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing and dance. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking as the main character in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been selected for the roles. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's screen debut took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. It also was the most successful film during 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record-breaking. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma later won five awards to honor her role in the movie.
